Julia's Story

I remember being in the third year of junior school and already
being quite shy. One of my school reports said “does not speak
until she is spoken to”... I remember at that time my mother tying
ribbons on our hair. For my sister’s the bow would be a pretty
hair ornament, but for me the bow was there to hide the bald
patches of alopecia. Mum tied the bows larger and larger until
it was impossible to hide them anymore. In the end I had to
resort to wearing a hat my sister had knitted for me.

The first wig I wore was from the NHS. The hair was wiry and
itchy. I stood out like a sore thumb and wanted to disappear
I was teased at school and called “wiggy” everyday.

I was generally a happy child. I enjoyed running and gymnastics, but always feared
the wig would fall off. I remember flinging the wig in a rage and crying inconsolably
when it fell off during a packed sports day.

As a teenager and for much of my adult life, I always felt “less than” everyone else.
I felt sub-standard and unattractive. I never spent much money on myself; what was
the point and what difference would it make? If a guy was interested in me and we
were close to getting intimate, I would fear having to explain that my hair was not
real. What if my wig fell off in the moment of passion?

I had always been a fan of America’s Next Top Model, and heard that Tyra Banks
wore something called a “lace wig”, I also heard Beyonce wore them too. I decided
to check out lace wigs on the internet, but in the back of my mind I thought that they
would be too expensive for someone like me.

In the end I took the plunge - I had a consultation, and walked out with a head full
of long luxurious hair.

I felt like a princess and have not looked back. I finally feel like a complete woman.
Attractive and confident.

A few weeks after my consultation, I went away for two weeks, solo, something I
would never have considered before. I now rediscovered the love of art and
photography and hope to set up my own photographic studio. I feel positive about
my life and want to share this gem with others.

If you’re suffering from hair loss or don’t feel confident about yourself, then I would
definitely recommend a lace wig. Mine has definitely been worth every penny. I cannot believe the difference this has made to my life and self image.

So what are you waiting for? - the world is waiting for a new confident you.
