DOS & DON'TS - WASHING

Do
use styrofoam head or wig block to wash, condition or treat your wig. If your wig block cannot hold water, use a protective plastic covering.

Do
use a knot sealer to help significantly reduce shedding.

Do
Do
deep condition your lace wig using specialist wig conditioners. Keep products away from the base cap and rinse thoroughly.

Do
wash and rinse hair using cool water - never hot water.

Do
minimise your use of heat styling - and use low heat settings.

Do
fingercomb hair instead of using comb - this will help maintain curls.

Do
handle your lace wig delicately.

Do
seek advice if unsure before carrying out any wig care.

DoN'T
flat iron curls - a curly wig is designed to be curly!

Don't
brush curly hair when hair is dry.

Don't
attempt to dye your wig or change its fundamental structure. (ie, try to make a straight wig curly).

Don't
comb the hair too vigorously.

Don't
use heavy grease products - they may loosen the knots and cause shedding. If you must use dressing products use small amounts and away from the cap base.

Store
do not fold your wig - when not in use place your wig on a correctly sized wig stand to maintain its shape.

Note
using dressmakers' or 'T'-pins carefully pin your wig onto the head to keep in place being careful not to damage the lace. For long term storage keep in a covered box.
