DOS & DON'TS - NATURAL HAIR
Lace wigs offer the perfect opportunity to rest your hair or take a break from chemical processing, but please remember not to neglect your natural hair.
Here are a few maintenance tips to keep your hair healthy
Do
Wash hair on a regular basis, diluting the shampoo before applying
hair.
Do
Deep conditioning regularly for chemically processed hair.
Do
Pay particular attention to colour treated hair, with plenty of nourishment and extra conditioning to prevent dryness and further breakage.
Use leave-in conditioners for extra protection.
Do
Remember you are resting your hair, so keep heat appliances to a minimum and use low heat settings.
Do
Establish a regularly care routine.
Do
Maintain a healthy balanced diet and use vitamin supplements if necessary.
Do
Stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.
Do
Get plenty of sleep and use on a satin pillow or wrap hair with satin
scarf/cap to retain moisture and reduce friction.
Do
Brush hair excessively. Use wide tooth comb to remove tangles, starting from ends to root.
Don't
Braid hair too tightly or leave braids in too long.
Don't
comb the hair too vigorously.
Don't
Use gels, mousse hairspray or heavy petroleum products. These will weight the hair down and cause breakage and clog the pores on your scalp.
Don't
hang on to dead hair or it may cause further damage - trim regularly to reduce split ends or cut back completely.
Don't
continue using products that no longer work for you. Your body and the environment around you changes constantly, so seek alternative products which may be more suitable.
