Baby Hairs:

Bleached Knots:
disguises the knotting appearance at the base of the cap

Body Wave:

Cap Construction:

Custom Wig:
Cuticle:
the cuticle is the protective layer on the hair shaft. where the hair has been harvested with cuticle laying in the same direction. This process significantly reduces tangling of the hair and retains the hairs natural texture and suppleness - see hair quality.
Crown:
the top of your head - see crown.
Density:
refers to the amount of hairs knotted onto the base cap. For ready made the density average 110% (light to medium). The average density for custom orders is 130%. The overall appearance of the density will also vary depending on the hair texture.

French Lace:
strong robust and slightly more visible. Ideal for first time wearers. see french lace.
Full Lace Cap:
cap made entirely of lace with no stretch. Can be parted anywhere. Can be made in French, Swiss and Super-Swiss, available in MADE TO MEASURE ONLY - see full lace cap.

Hairline:

Hair Length:
Afrodite measures hair length from the top of the head (crown) to the desired length - see hair length guide.
Hand Knotted:
the technique in which the hairs are knotted onto the lace. Afrodite uses double knots for its lace wigs - see hand knotting.
100% Human Hair
Not mixed with synthetic fibres. It is often chemically processed to achieve colour in a wide variety of styles and textures.

Kosher Wigs:
manufactured under rabbinic supervision to ensure that no hairs of India origin has been used. Certification available on request. For further advice, please contact you local rabbinic authority.
Lace:
the material used to create the base cap to knot the hairs onto. The lace types vary in terms of in strength and thickness.

Lace Caps:
the base which you wig is constructed. This can vary in thickness and style depending on the user preference.

Lace Colour:
the lace material is dyed in various colours to closely match skin tones. Ready Made lace colours: Light Brown and Mid-Brown. Measure Lace Colours: Transparent, Beige, Skin (tan), Light Brown, Mid Brown, Dark Brown and Black.

Lace Frontal:
half a lace wig from the front to the crown. Use in combination with other techniques such as extensions. Not to be confused with lace wigs.

Remy Cuticle:
100% cuticle intact to keep its lustre, is tangle free and is longer lasting. Superior quality to the “Remy” grade.

Remy:
has undergone some processing to retain most of the cuticle. It's tangle free and lasts longer than non remy hair. A great introduction to Remy grades - see hair quality.
Silk Top:
has a square of silk sewn into the front of a lace wig at the crown. Then, instead of knotting the hairs into the lace like a standard lace wig, the hairs are either individually injected through the silk into a thin skin PU base, or they are fed through the silk and knotted into the lace mesh underneath.

Super-Swiss Lace:
superfine lace for ultimate seamlessness. Ideal for photo shoots and professional media work. Not recommended for higher density wigs or daily wear.

Swiss Lace:
fine yet durable and ideal for fuller density styles. Available in all lace colours for made to measure orders only - see swiss lace.
Textures:
Silky Straight - silky texture of Indian origin.
Yaki Straight - resembles afro relaxed hair.
Body Wave - curls mid way to tips.
Jheri Curl- straight at the root with medium curls.
Deep Wave - coarser texture with large curls from roots to tip.
Water Wave - Silky texture with tight curls from root to tip.
Kinky Straight - resembles natural afro hair.

Virgin Hair:
beautiful hair at its most purest. Virgin hair has not been chemically processed to alter its colour or texture. With the cuticles completely intact, the hair is super soft, with luscious shine and tangle free. Due to the genetic origins of our donors (Chinese/Indian) the hair colours are restricted to blacks and dark browns. When only the best will do! - see hair quality.
