What is a lace wig?
The hairs on a lace wig are carefully hand knotted onto a lace cap to give the the natural appearance of hair growing from the scalp. They come in standard sizes or can be made to measure to suit individual taste. See how lace wigs are made.


The origins of lace wigs
Lace wig techniques originate from the theatrical industry and remained a closely guarded secret amongst celebrities and media personalities. However, the industry has increased significantly and have modified lace wigs to meet the demands of contemporary society.

It’s increasing popularity is due to its wearability - creating style options such as pony tails, freestyle parting not possible with traditional wigs. Lace wigs are of superior quality, of lightweight breathable construction and easy to apply - put simply lace front wigs are the most undetectable wigs available - see gallery.

What types of cap are available?
Afrodite now offer a wide range of lace caps to suit varying requirements.

Ready Made Lace Caps
Only available in ear to ear stretch - offers a little flexibility but partings are limited to left, right & centre only - see Ready Made cap option.

Made to Measure Lace Caps
All cap options are available as follows: -
Full Lace - part anywhere, suitable for ponytails.
Ear to Ear stretch - a little flexibility but partings are limited to left, right & centre.
Lace & adjustable strap - for left, right & centre partings with strap at back.
Stretch lace with adjustable strap - partings limited, no adhesive required.
Lace with PU rim - ideal for severe hair loss. no adhesive required.
Silk Top - hairs injected through silk to thin skin base for invisible knots.

Who should wear a lace wig?
Lace wigs have incredible versatility and are suitable for many users with various cap options available.

If you are experiencing hair loss, lace wigs are a great alternative to traditional wigs.

For special occasions, lace wigs offer an instant transformation, with easy application and removal.

You can also wear lace wigs between hairstyles, where you wish to avoidchemical processing, by ‘resting’ your natural hair. Lace wigs can offer an easy alternative, with wigs to suit your personal style without compromise.

What is hair quality?
Afrodite offers many grades of hair quality to suit all budgets. Hair quality is graded as follows:

Virgin Cuticle: 100% virgin with cuticle intact & tangle free (not processed).
Remy Cuticle: 100% cuticle intact, tangle free and longer lasting.
Remy:               most cuticles intact, some processing, also tangle free.
Human Hair:   100% human hair with no synthetic or mixed fibres.

Indian Remy hair vs. Chinese Remy hair
Indian Remy is more durable and is generally used to create a range of textures such as yaki, kinky and wave styles. Available in virgin, remy cuticle and remy qualities.

Chinese Remy hair has a much finer texture and is more delicate. The term 'Remy' refers to the process where the cuticles of the hair are kept intact and aligned together when the wig is knotted into the cap. Available in virgin quality only.

What are the different types of lace available?
French lace creates a strong wig construction which is slightly more detectable than Swiss lace but more robust. We recommend French lace for first time wearers.

Swiss lace is a finer less detectable lace. The lace is fragile and suitable for experience users. Swiss lace is recommended for made to measure wigs.

Super Swiss -ultrafine, delicate, the finest lace available.Ideal for photoshootsand professional media work.Not recommended for daily wear or densities higher than 120%.

All lace options are comfortable, lightweight &breathable.

Cap sizes
Ready Made wigs: in standard small, medium & large. Please ensure that you select the correct cap size before committing to purchase - see cap sizes.

Made to Measure: we can also make caps to your exact size so that they will fit your head perfectly - see How to Measure. amd Made to Measure Ordering.

How do I apply my lace front wig?
To achieve a seamless look, lace front wigs are attached by using either liquid or tape adhesive or combination both - the most suitable method will depend entirelyon personal preference. A non adhesive option and a PU options are also available.

We recommend you carry out a 24 hour patch test before trying any new products.

Place a small amount of the adhesive in an inconspicuous area and observe for 24 hours (or as directed) to ensure that you do not have an allergic reaction.

Can I dye, perm or blow dry my wig?
Afrodite wigs can be treated in much the same way as your own hair. It can therefore be permed, coloured or heat treated. However great care should be taken in treating your wigto reduce the likelyhood of damage, please consult a professional colourist.

Can I wear a high ponytail?
High ponytailsare best achieved with full lace wigs and ear to ear caps. If you have a lace wig with a stretch cap we only recommend alow ponytail or updos.


Will my hairline look natural?
When lace wigs are applied correctly, the hair will appear to be growing from your scalp. Baby hairs come as standard with our ready made wigs.

When ordering your Made to Measure wig, we recommend you add baby hairs, to the front of the wig for a more naturalistic hairline.

Will adhesives affect my hairline?
Our lace wig adhesive options are primarily designed for those with severe hair loss and should be placed on the skin in front of your hairline.Correct sizing andappropriate adhesives are therefore essential - see adhesive comparison chart.

How long can I wear the wig before removal?
This depends on many factors: skin type,adhesive strength, climate etc. Some customers are able to wear their wigs for 1-3 weeks at a time. However due to its easy application and removal, most customers find it easy to remove their wigs on a weekly basis to care for their own hair, cleanse the lace and reapply.

If daily wear is required, a tape with 1-2 day hold is recommended.

Ordering and delivery
Ready Made wigs are in stock and subject to availability.

Postage deadlines are as follows:
Monday to Thursday: Order received before 3.00 pm: Guaranteed Next Day delivery where applicable.
Fridays: Order received before 3.00 pm: a £2.50 surcharge applies for Guaranteed Next Day delivery where applicable.
Saturday: Posted on Mondays with Guaranteed Next Day delivery (Tuesdays). Sunday: Posted on Mondays for Guaranteed Next Day delivery (Tuesdays).

To avoid any postage delays, please ensure the cardholder's address matches the delivery address. Afrodite cannot accept responsibility for delays incurred for this reason.

Made to Measure wigs will not be ordered until payment is received, details are confirmed, and terms & conditions agreed to.

Accessories are subject to availability. Orders will be dispatched by first class post (where applicable) by 3.00 pm on the day full payment is received. Any payments received after 3.00 pm will be dispatched on the next business day. Orders will only be sent to the billing address. Please note that some accessories cannot be sent by air, and will require ground transportation.

Deliveries will only be sent to the billing address unless specific instructions have been made. We ship using various carriers, but primarily Royal Mail, Fedex and DHL. Please note that some items cannot be shipped by air, and will require ground transportation.

How will we calculate shipping costs?
We hate hidden charges as much as you do so we will charge you at cost. The delivery price for your items will be shown in your shopping cart.

All orders are always sent recorded delivery, additionally all orders that include a wig will have insurance cover and guaranteed next day delivery as well.

Shipping costs will be automatically added in the shopping cart . Please review your order to ensure that everything is correct. Complete the information including your address & postcode.


How long will my Ready Made order take?
Ready Made wigs are in stock and subject to availability.

In stock orders will be dispatched by guaranteed next day Special Delivery (unless otherwise stated) by 3.00 p.m. on the day full payment is received. Orders received after 3.00 pm will be dispatched on the next business day.

Orders will only be sent to the billing address.

'Special request' orders will generally be sent within 7 days, subject to availability.


How do I get a Made to Measure order quote?
Choose your options from the dropdown menus on the made to measure page and a quote will be shown. You can then proceed to order and after payment has been received we will require a 'final confirmation' before production can start.


How long will my Made to Measure order take?
On 'final confirmation' please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery for custom wigs. We will contact you by email to update you on the progress of your order.


Can I place an urgent order?
Ready Made wigs: - if not in stock, please allow 7 working days with a 50% non refundable deposit required.

Made to Measure wigs:- a rush order can sometimes be made for a small fee.


Afrodite’s refunds policy for Ready Made wigs
Please make sure that you have conducted adequate research to ensure that lace wigs are the right option for you and your lifestyle. There are no refunds on ready made wigs unless they are found to be faulty, ie, the item does not match its subscription or is not manufactured as described.

ESSENTIAL: PLEASE DO NOT CUT YOUR LACE WIG UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT FITS PROPERLY - WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY LACE WIGS WHICH HAVE BEEN CUT OR TAMPERED WITH.

In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with any of our wigs, it must be returned, AT THE BUYER'S EXPENSE, within 14 calendar days of receiving the item. Postage by Special Delivery is advisable when returning wigs. The item must be in its original packaging, intact and UNUSED. Please make sure you have a receipt as proof of purchase.

Afrodite’s returns policy - Made to Measure wigs.
As your wig is made specifically for you, once payment is taken, no changes to the order or any cancellation can be made, except in accordance with your legal rights.

In addition, we will only accept returns in accordance with your legal rights, for example:-
If the wig has not been manufactured as specified.
If the sizing of the wig is incorrect.
If you are returning a wig due to a fault, or you believe it has not been made to the specification given by you, we will re-make a wig to the correct specifications.

The new wig will arrive approximately 6-8 weeks from the date of confirmation - we will contact you by email to confirm completion. Goods should be returned in the original packaging. PLEASE RETAIN PROOF OF POSTING.
